Guided by the design concept of “A Thousand Sails Racing, Technology Sailing Far,” the project features a facade resembling ship sails and a roof undulating like ocean waves. The curtain wall systems on the north and south sides adopt a sail-like design, while the building’s form is composed of rhythmic sail-shaped units and a roof evoking the imagery of ocean waves. The total steel usage amounts to 7,000 tons. The metal roof consists of 26 curved panels symbolizing ocean waves, making it the largest continuous welded stainless steel roof with undulating wave patterns currently under construction in China. Leifei has provided custom recessed high-power dot light for the roof, where each “starlight” paints a dazzling scene. The venue will serve as a core hub for international scientific and technological exchange, cooperation, and the commercialization of science within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, undertaking the three major missions of exchange, transformation, and heritage, and establishing a comprehensive international exchange complex centered on science.
At night, the Lhasa Ethnic Unity Pagoda shines brilliantly on the plateau at an altitude of 3,650 meters, symbolizing the vibrant radiance of China’s 56 ethnic groups. To mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Leifei collaborated with the Nanjing Lighting Group to complete the landscape lighting project for the Lhasa Ethnic Unity Tower. With the support and guidance of the Lhasa Municipal Party Committee and Government, and under the direct coordination of the Jiangsu Aid-Tibet Command Center—which oversaw the “full process, all elements, and the entire chain”—light spanning thousands of miles once again illuminates the Snowland, lighting the path of unity for the Chinese nation.
